Overview

The Groups at LegendOfZelda.com have existed many times, in many different numbers, and with the exception of the current batch of groups, have always ended in failure. The causes are many, such as member apathy, group leader apathy, or Staff refocus (in the sense that the Staff's attention is drawn away from the groups for such a length of time that they fall into disarray). Currently, the only two requirements to join one of the groups at LoZ.com are: Member must have 5 or more posts, or must have introduced themselves in the Deku Scrub Playground (Introduction Board), and must have been a member of LoZ.com's Forums for at least two days. Members may only be a part of one group at a time. Also, members must wait two weeks before joining another group after leaving their first one.

History

Back after the relaunch of 2004, the groups did not exist. However, in late August of 2005, the groups existed as 7 groups. They were led by various members, including forum staff, though not all group leaders were forum staff. The groups were:

Zora

Gorons

Kokiri Kids

Gerudos

Rito

Kakariko Villagers

After the demise of those groups sometime between April 2006 and August of 2006, another set of groups cropped up for a bit, called the "Master Swordsmen" and the "Triforce Guardians". These two group experienced an initial spike of popularity, which quickly died down over the course of a few months, and ultimately, the groups were once again discarded.

Modern Times

However, in September of 2006, a discussion arose in the Sage Board on the possibility of reviving the groups. In September of 2007, the groups as they exist at LoZ.com were created. They were the Kokiri Kids, the Goron Elders, and the Zora Nobles.

By August of 2008, the groups had again atrophied. The original group leader for the Kokiri Kids, Gohma, had been replaced by Xizor, and the original group leader for the Goron Elders, Shinya, had been replaced by MXdan before being replaced by Last Chance. The original group leader for the Zora Nobles, Kandid, had not been replaced. However, on August 16th, 2008, Xizor announced that the groups were being revamped with a changing of group leadership. The three new group leaders, Fiver for the Kokiri Kids, Doggie Bark (currently Ironic Karma) for the Goron Elders, and Shadow for the Zora Nobles, were brought in as an attempt to shift the burden of Group Leadership off of the staff and onto the Sheikah, particularly Sheikah who wished to plan fun activities for the forums. Along with the new group leaders, Xizor reorganized the category "Termina - The Group Boards", replacing the old group activities boards with the "Colosseum", a board dedicated to all group activities, rather than separate by "official" activities and "user created" ones. Also, a special, private board was added for group leaders, designated "The Elder Assembly". This is significant because it was the first time that the groups underwent vast changes without first disappearing for many months.

The groups as they exist today are the longest sustained running of continuous groups in LoZ.com history, running for well over a year, despite lulls in popularity.

Recently, the groups have been garnering more attention due to Membership Drives and the Presidential Election for the "President of the Groups".
