Manga (Hiragana: まんが; katakana: マンガ) is the Japanese word for "comic". Outside of Japan, the term refers to comics made in Japan. There have been several mangas for The Legend of Zelda series, mostly following the plot lines of various games, with some slight differences. Some of these would include that Link speaks, new characters are added, and different places are visited. It should be noted that these stories are not considered canon by many fans for those reasons.
Many of these mangas are available in Japan only; however, Viz Media has recently announced plans to translate and publish several of the mangas in English within the United States and Canada, publishing them within the Viz Kids divison. These mangas include Ocarina of Time (volumes 1 and 2), Majora's Mask, and Oracle of Seasons. Just recently, volumes 5 (Oracle of Ages), 6 (Four Swords - Part 1), 7(Four Swords - Part 2), 8 (The Minish Cap) and 9 (A Link to the Past) have been announced for American release. At this current time, it appears a new volume will be released at the beginning of every other month.
Due to the fact that Viz publishes these mangas within their Viz Kids divison, certain scenes have been removed as a form of censorship within their translations, although fan translations of the original manga material are readily avaliable on the internet.
