This page describes the policies and guidelines pertaining to the Featured Content selection process of Zelda Wiki, including how to properly nominate, approve, or oppose articles and images.

Featured Pictures

Qualification Criteria

Featured pictures should:

1. Depict a Zelda-related subject.
2. Be properly sourced, categorized, and licensed using FileInfo.
3. Be of a reasonably high resolution AND/OR
4. Be of a high quality in terms of detail and rendering
5. Meet all other criteria of Zelda Wiki's Image Quality Standards

Approving Featured Pictures

1. A picture needs the approval of ten users in its favor in order to be marked as featured.
2. You may make a maximum of one approval per calendar month.
3. You may not approve of a picture which you have nominated, or for which you have already previously approved.
4. Approvals should be added in order, with # at the beginning of the line.
5. A maximum of six Currently Nominated images are allowed at any given time. Please do not nominate a new image if there are already six nominees.
6. All approvals MUST be signed using ~~~~. If you do not sign your opinion or second, your comments WILL NOT be counted!
7. Be sure to include a brief message stating why you agree that an image should be featured. "Stub" votes (e.g. "I like this image", or "<character shown> is great") may be deemed invalid and discounted.

Proper Opposition Guidelines

1. You may make a single vote opposing any nominated picture (with no monthly restrictions). These should be reasoned oppositions based upon the qualifying criteria detailed.
2. Your personal like or dislike of the subject being depicted is NOT grounds for opposition.
3. Oppositions to images should only be used for reasons such as the following:

a. Low-resolution

b. Poor quality images (e.g. blurry, visible compression artifacts etc.)

c. Poorly cropped/rendered

d. An image depicting a similar subject is already featured

e. The image is just one in a series of many images of similar nature

If an administrator deems that a particular opposition does not follow these guidelines, it will be negated.

Featured Articles

Qualification Criteria

Featured articles should:

1. Have exceptionally fluid American English grammar and spelling.
2. Be lengthy, yet detailed.
3. Be well organized (as in subdivisions).
4. Cite sources, and cite them properly.
5. Be properly categorized.
6. Contain the most up-to-date information possible.
7. Have no template requesting improvement, merging, deletion, or any template that may in some way state the article is not of excellent quality. In this respect, there should be no duplicate of the nominated article, nor should the article be a duplicate of another page.
8. NOT be copied from Wikipedia, or from any site that does not run the Wiki, under any circumstances!

Approving Featured Articles

1. An article needs the approval of ten users in its favor in order to be marked as featured.

Nomination Page Format

Nominations

Nominations are made in individual subtopics beneath the "Current nominations" header, in chronological order of nomination. For articles, the topic header should be:

For pictures, the topic header should be:
==Description of subject==

The user making the nomination should write a brief description justifying why they believe that the article or picture qualifies, signing with ~~~~ at the end. For pictures, this should also include the image itself, in the format:
[[File:filename|thumb|right]]

Headers

Beneath the nomination should appear the following:

{{Neutral}}

This will display the subheaders where voters should place their comments, in chronological order. Each vote should be placed on a new line and preceded by a # symbol (which will generate a continuous numbered list), and must be signed (using ~~~~).

If you like an article or picture, and agree that it meets the defined criteria, vote here

If you disagree that an article or picture meets the defined criteria, add a reasoned opposition here. Please note that this section should be used with discretion, and not to express dislike of the subject matter described or depicted.

If you dislike an article or picture, or wish to voice any others concerns or comments, please do so here. This section has no direct influence on the voting result.

Administrators will move negated support or opposition votes here (i.e. those which do not comply with the Proper Opposition Guidelines).
