Skype is a free downloadable software application that allows use of instant messaging, audio and video chats, file transfers, and many other additional features used through the internet. Zelda Wiki uses Skype in order for users of the wiki to contact one another through messaging, and discuss wiki related matters. This use of instant messaging is to shorten the length of talk page discussions, as well as allowing users to resolve issues in a more personal environment. In addition, the Zelda Wiki Community Chat allows the site's various staff, editors, and readers to carry casual conversations with one another on topics ranging from the wiki to Zelda in general and beyond.
Zelda Wiki features two chat channels: the Community Chat and the Editor Chat. The former is for general discussion amongst the community, while the latter is reserved for currently active readers and editors to discuss wiki related business only. The Editor Chat does not allow for off-topic discussion.

Installing Skype
In order to join the chats, first you must have Skype downloaded and installed. Then you can follow the steps listed below to join the chat.

Joining the Chats
To join either chat, you must add one of the currently active users and request to be added to the chat of your choice. When making a contact request, please make sure to state that you are doing so in order to be added to the Zelda Wiki chat, otherwise your contact request may be ignored. Note that the Editor Chat is reserved for those with active Zelda Wiki accounts.
