History

ZO started back in November 2005 on a free site builder as Zelda Discussions. Hardly anyone viewed it, it was mostly a page leading to the forums. As time progressed, however, it evolved, and by "Version 2" it was more developed as an actual site.

Version 2.1 introduced its first HTML/CSS layout created by 2L84ME, who was the graphics designer at Zelda World at the time. Version 2.2 and 2.3 introduced some new features. (2.3 being on a hosted server with the domain of [zeldadiscussions.com]). You can view the old Zelda Discussions 2.1 page here Eventually, "Version 3.0" was concieved, created by henhouse but coded into HTML and CSS by Toby. By this time, the site had undergone a name change to Zelda Oracles, as well as a leap in activity.

The long awaited "Version 4.0" of ZO was opened December 19, 2006, with the announcement post on the site rapidly gaining 81 comments by fans. It was a huge leap in Zelda Oracles many people loved it's layout and looks, the affiliate list grew rapidly with people wanting to join. The hostees number almost tripled.

Misfortune Strikes

On August 2, 2007, Zelda Oracles found itself a victim of collateral damage caused by the VGRC/Anonymous vs Shaun Barratt controversy. Shaun, who had been a staff member of ZO, had his ZO accounts broken into, giving Anon free access to ZO's news system and moderation features on their forums, resulting in the deletion of a good deal of content and forum posts, replaced with various /b/ propaganda, Zelda hentai and pornography. ZO staff picked up the pieces of what was left, but it seemed like no use starting all over again and some people lost interest. Around mid-September the whole server was wiped out, including the hostees.

Revival

Several months later it was time for a new fresh start. Zelda Oracles introduced its 5th version with The Burning Link, creator of Zelda Online, who merged sites with ZO. It brought back the forums and the media gallery. It had to build it's way back up but as of right now the site is prospering once more.
