Ulrira (うるりらじいさん, Ururira-jiisan) is a very shy man who lives in Mabe Village on Koholint Island. His first and only appearance to date is Link's Awakening. If Link talks to him in his house, he will tell Link to speak to him through a telephone outside.[1] Wherever Link finds a Telephone Booth on the island, Ulrira will give him random hints on how to progress through the game, like Navi, Midna, the Old Man, and others do in different The Legend of Zelda titles. He is married to Grandma Ulrira, who does most of the work outside, which she seems to enjoy.

Ulrira seems to know everything about the island,[2] and exactly what Link is currently doing.[3] Because of this, Ulrira has a sense of mystery about him, like the Poe salesman or the Postman of Twilight Princess. It is most widely thought that he either has psychic abilities or he is just Nintendo's way to guide a player through the game. It remains unconfirmed if Ulrira knew that Koholint Island was a dream.
