Liyer (pronounced "leer") is a character from the non-canon fan game The Legend of Zelda: The Fallen Sage and it's upcoming sequel.

Background
Much of Liyer's childhood and past is not explained well in the events of the Fallen Sage. She is a young teenaged girl who has exceptional skill with daggers and knives, and is often found getting into fights with Hylian soldiers. She has connections to Hyrule's underground criminal organizations though she does not partake in them.
Role in Plot
In The Legend of Zelda: The Fallen Sage Liyer plays a predominately large role. She serves as Link's loyal companion and is often quick to get into a fight to defend him. Her hatred of Saria is very well known, and she almost always finds an excuse to fight with the Emerald Sage.
Liyer meets with Link in the opening of the Fallen Sage after finding his body dragged to the gates of Hyrule's capital. She forces him to agree to help her infiltrate Hyrule Castle to recover a trinket that was stolen from her.
At the Fallen Sage's climax, Liyer joins Link along with Mido and a character of the player's choosing to fight Sulkaris, the Fallen Sage. After damaging the boss Liyer commands Princess Princess Zelda to fire the only weapon capable of killing the Fallen Sage, a giant mortar cannon. After Sulkaris is defeated, Saria reveals herself as the mastermind behind the game's tragedy and Liyer eagerly takes the fight against Saria.
Relation with Link
Throughout the Fallen Sage it is hinted that Liyer has a strong interest in Link, though she never reveals her feelings, if any, to him. This could explain her undying hatred towards Saria, Liyer's fights with her are reminiscent of typical jealousy.
Trivia
-The song Liyer plays on her piano during the opening cinematic is 'To Zanarkand' from Final Fantasy X.
-It is never revealed what exactly the trinket was that Liyer forced Link to recover in Hyrule Castle
