Background

- The Legend of Zelda: The Fallen Sage: Akazoo is the high General of Hyrule's military, and trusted advisor to the King of Hyrule. He is characterized as an odd and unstable man, often ridiculed for his humerous but harsh training methods. He almost always wears garish makeup and ridiculous hats, earning him the title of "Hyrule's Clown." At one point he was promised Princess Zelda's hand in marriage, until she later decided to reject him. His failed ambition to be with Zelda is often contributed to his insane manners.

-The Legend of Zelda: The Gerudo Wars: It is unknown what role Akazoo plays in the prequel. On several gaming forums it was told that he is still a tranee in Hyrule's military and serves directly under Zelda herself. It is presumed the Gerudo Wars will explain why he becomes so unstable.

In The Legend of Zelda: The Fallen Sage, Lord Akazoo serves as one of Link's primary antagonists. Hungry for war, Akazoo secretly builds up a huge militia of troops for Hyrule, convincing the King to go to war with the neighboring Gohma. When the army is revealed to the King, he happily agrees with Akazoo to declare war. With Hyrule's army in march out of the capital, Akazoo unleashes a swarm of Gohma he kept hidden under Hyrule Castle. The resulting invasion leaves Hyrule massacred. During the attack Akazoo traps the King and Princess Zelda in the throne room, gutting a sword in the King's chest before inprisoning Zelda.

Once Akazoo discovers Link, he sets out to use him to free Sulkaris, the Fallen Sage. Luring Link to Palagard's Sanctuary, Akazoo tricks Link into killing the temple's guardian to Sulkaris' prison. The Fallen Sage is freed, and Akazoo goes along with the Fallen Sage's demands by opening a portal to the Sacred Realm on the roof of Hyrule Castle.

Akazoo uses his power to tear apart Hyrule castle and rebuild it into a Palace of his image. He prepares to use a device known as the Heart of Palagard to transform in the "God of Gohma," and beat Sulkaris with his newfound power. However, Link eventually hunts down Akazoo and storms into his grand palace, fighting his way through, freeing Zelda, and confronting the madman. Akazoo attempts to stop Link by transforming into various undead creatures, but he is eventually slain and killed by the Hero of Time. With his dying breath, he opens the portal to the Sacred Realm for Sulkaris to enter and claim the Triforce.
