Talk:We're back!
From Zelda Wiki.org
It wouldn't have been hard to merge with the Zelda Wiki. It's much better being hosted on Wikia, you can ask for a whole bunch of extensions and you have many things available to use. But now that I think about it, it's for the better.--Richard 13:11, 17 June 2007 (PDT)
- True, there is a wealth of extensions and such you can request, but overall a wiki owner has no backend control over the wiki. I would not be able to, say, back it up, or go into the FTP to upload files, or upgrade the wiki manually. I would also not be able to access the MySQL databases. While Angela says nothing's impossible (as in she could have made a special case for ZW.org), it really just isn't the same as long as it's hosted by Wikia.
- And, to clarify, the merge would not have been simple. It was discussed how we could pull it off, but because there is no special way to magically merge wikis, it would have to be done manually by the community. Just try putting in 1000+ articles, then deciding which wiki keeps priority over already created articles! It truly is A LOT of work, and there's no other way to do it. --Jase 13:17, 17 June 2007 (PDT)
You guys really should've moved to Wikia. I like Wikia's Zelda wiki better. Losing the MySQL database isn't much and it's free. Just keep their articles and move the articles they don't have over there. Done.--Astroboy 14:18, 30 June 2007 (PDT)
Wow. Somehow I totally missed this. Anyways, good to know you made the right decision. I will personally hunt you down and kill you should you give this place into the desires of corperate greed. --Captain Cornflake 10:19, 3 March 2008 (EST)
