Love interest[]

I'm actually having a similar disagreement at Wikipedia at the moment. Please note that, since nothing IS ever explicitly stated, and everything is interpretable, it really only deserves a brief mention. The reasons listed in that paragraph are another thing that requires "extra" to make it work.

At the end of twilight princess, it seems as if Ilia is the girl that Link ends up with.

Er...if that isn't sheer shipping, I don't know what is. There's not even proof that Link even stays at Ordon. He's still in his Hero's garb, riding off to Hyrule Field.

Ilia is one of three possible love interests for Link in the game. [...] Having never developed a strong relationship with Zelda, and Midna had gone back to her home in the Twilight Realm, Link seems to go back to the girl he was with from the beginning.

Elsewhere, I've said that it's ridiculous that everyone seems to think that Link MUST end up with someone. Now, if another Relationship section wants to be developed, I'm all for it--but, please, regard canon first.

P We don't seem to agree often. Saibh 14:43, 20 March 2008 (EDT)

Well, because this "ship" isn't as well-known as MidnaxLink, would you agree on adding a trivia section to the article and puting something like this in it:

Ilia is one of the three possible love interests for Link, the others being Midna and Zelda.--Link hero of light 19:37, 20 March 2008 (EDT)

I suppose it's hard to argue, but I'm not sure about it being less "known". Maybe less supported, but if an average gamer can't come up with connotations for all three, than she's definitely not a love interest. Besides that, "love interest" implies that Ilia, Midna, and Zelda are all sources of romance and possible love later in Link's life (making Midna sort of a former love interest, by that sense). It's not indicated he ends up with anyone at all...huh.
I'm just loathe to add something just to appease shippers...I don't know if you noticed, but I added a line saying "It is possible that Link and Ilia share a romantic bond, although nothing is ever explicitly stated or hinted" in the first paragraph. I think that suffices better than a trivia section. And besides, trivia sections are, by definition "matters or things that are very unimportant, inconsequential, or nonessential; trifles; trivialities". That's why encyclopedias don't have them. If it's not notable enough to have it's own section, than it shouldn't be notable enough to be in the article. People just add articles when they think something is interesting to know, but can't fit it elsewhere. Saibh 20:48, 20 March 2008 (EDT)

Link and Ilia[]

Well you all want midna to be with him but she left and if you have played the game they did not say "I love you" AT ALL and she broke the mirror so they can never ever see eachother! And zelda and link well face it they knew each other for a day. But Ilia and link probably a good choice since they have known eachother since childhood and they live like an inch away from eachother! --ZeldaGirl101 19:29, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Just because Midna left doesnt mean she and Link werent in love. If anything it was to make the ending more sad. And remember: On an interview with GameInformer, Eiji Aonuma was asked if Midna would return for another game. Aonuma stated: "Because of the way Twilight Princess ended, I don’t see her making a reappearance, but who knows? If we hear enough voices for her to come back, how can we not?" Ok i know he said at first he didnt see it likely but look around you there are people begging for Midna to come back and for Nintendo power awards Best New Character (All Systems): Readers Pick - Midna (The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess) Im actully EXPECTING to see her again nowDarkest-Link33 00:45, 18 June 2008 (UTC)Erik

llia always gives link those little looks--Rapido 21:19, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

"... they did not say "I love you" AT ALL..." Maybe you didn't play the game either, because If I recall correctly Midna was about to say sometihng before losing her nerve and saying "see you later" instead, and I'm sure she wasn't about to anounce her favorite color. Onen 19:10, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Alright, it's fair to say that among Midna (and possibly Zelda), Ilia is a love interest. I'm not exactly a supporter of the two, but if any of them are really prominent, it's Ilia in the first half, and Midna and Ilia in the second. Deliberately leaving out that Ilia might be something to Link other than a friend is silly, but it's also silly to say they're in love.
Also, in the Japanese version the only thing Midna says is "Ja ne", which is like "see you later". She never goes "I...", to my recollection. Even if you still count the "I...", it still means nothing. It's like the people who take the "Zelda is your..." in A Link to the Past and say Zelda's really his sister. Interpreting too far. Spelling[]

All across the wiki, I've noticed some spelling it Illia and some Ilia. So just though people should stick to the Ilia, so there is no confusion. - M E L C H I Z E D E K  (TALK) 20:25, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

They should. But it looks like you fixed them all. Only this page turns up in the search now. I can't stay. Our dorm server crashed. I don't know how long it will take to fix. I'm on a public PC now. People are waiting in line. Later.Matt (Talk) 20:50, November 13, 2008 (UTC)
Yep, I typed it into the search box, and fixed up all the incorrect ones. I hope your server is back up soon! - M E L C H I Z E D E K  (TALK) 04:18, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Age[]

Proof of "about 16 years old"? It really needs a source if it's to stay. Alter  {T C B H } 18:16, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Ilia's Song[]

Sure, this is a great addition to the page, but is it legal? We're talking about hosting a copyrighted track here. I do have a legit version myself, but it cost a fortune to obtain. Does this not go against our policies? Alter  {T C B H } 04:17, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

The short answer is that it may well not be legal. However, there's an important distinction to be made here; we absolutely aren't talking about hosting a copyrighted track, because it's not on our server. This is embedded content from YouTube, meaning that any copyright violation issues lie entirely with them. YouTube has a particularly bad record for copyright issues (for reference, their policies are here and here), but any legal queries would be directed there and not here.
That being said, there is still the moral issue that this creates. However, I'd argue that, as with the copyrighted images show on the page, the usage of this third-party hosted audio is in context and proportional. It's not actually available for download, only viewing (unlike some places...) Nevertheless, a valid concern which should be addressed in our site policy. Adam [ talk ] 12:55, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
I understand. But it actually can be downloaded from here by using programs such as unplug, but I believe that this is irrelevant. Yes, this is something that should probably be addressed, as it would be best if ZW had set policies regarding these types of issues. So how would we go about doing that? Alter  {T C B H } 18:40, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
We'll be revising the Copyright policy page soon, so I'll make sure that this point gets included. Also, my point on downloading was that it's not offered for download, but only for viewing. If a person were to download the audio using third-party software, they are the one in the wrong for actively seeking means to download otherwise unavailable content. Adam [ talk ] 20:14, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
Educational things like wikis are legally fair use. That doesn't stop companies from illegally throwing fits, of course. —Preceding unsigned comment added by KairuHakubi 20:55, 2 May 2019

Time of Memory Loss[]

It's assumed that she losses her memory when she is kidnapped. That's true. But what time? Impaz states that she talked a lot about Link when Ilia was with her. Yet when Link arrives at Telma's Bar she doesn't even recognize him. The answer must be that when she escaped from the Hidden Village, she fell and hit her head, causing her memory loss. Or it is possible that she remembered a boy with blond hair but did not remember his name. Also note that until he sees her in Telma's Bar, Ilia had never seen Link wearing the Hero's Garb, so she couldn't have remembered a boy with a green tunic.--O l a i e a ~~ 20:54, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Hmmm...interesting! I never even thought about that. Yeah...I guess she must have lost her memory after she left the Hidden Village. Still, it's really annoying how the game doesn't even go too much in-depth on how Ilia ended up in the Hidden Village or HOW she lost her memory! Dany36 20:59, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
