Talk:Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule

From Zelda Wiki.org

King of Hyrule shouldn't link here, and the article has to be modified. The reason? Well, Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule is one of Hyrule's kings, but certainly not the only one. In TMC, the King is called Daltus Hyrule, and his ancestor Gustav is mentioned.--85.177.179.213 15:12, 31 July 2007 (PDT)

I beleive

I have a theory that King Daphnes may be a Gerudo. well I dont know if anyones gonna read this at all but here goes

  • when he is the king of red lions he has what looks similar to a gerudo symbol on the door where the crane and sail comes from

http://zeldawiki.org/Image:Crane1.jpg

  • his name- king of red lions, why not king of high ears or something related to hyrulians. desert literally means red land, so he could be king of red lands in that way and also the gerudos hair is red almost like a main of a lions is shown to be red sometimes hence king of red lions
  • his skin is the same colors as Tetra before she is turned into her Zelda incarnation. This means that he was born with a dark color (spirits dont tan) and why is this important because if we look at all the previous royal families they are purely white skinned . this can be shown when Tetra turns into Zelda, she gains the white skin of the bloodline.
  • His facial features are similar to those of Ganon's.
  • he compares himself to Ganon not in a physical way or in anyway that means he is gerudo but when you add this to the fact that he is the only king known to help fight off the baddie in a zelda game, I began to suspect his intentions were not only to save his kingdom but because it looks like he has such strong feelings towards Ganon almost like he has to reclaim the name of Gerudo and not have it be only associated with Ganon. Also when he compares himself to Ganon this could mean he thought he was different, maybe even better then him as a gerudo but still the same as he would not let his dreams of Hyrule kingdom go and Ganon would not let his dreams for conquest of Hyrule kingdom go.

The so-called white skin you mention is only makeup. It was a common practice in the middle ages for noble women to cover their heads with white powder to appear to be more pure. So the dark skin is normal. There have been been no other members of the Royal family, other than Zelda, depicted in any Canon source to any great detail. Therefore you cannot say that all of the royal bloodline have perfectly white skin. the king compared himself to Ganon because they where both tied to Hyrule. The King because he was a spirit and Ganon because he wanted to control land, not a bunch of islands. Lions are always associated with royalty. And the color red is often associated with courage. That means that the name the King of Red Lions has no connection whatsoever with the Gerudo.--Matt 17:43, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

  • When you say only makeup ...do you mean in hyrule or in a real kingdom or time, because then its hard to compare that with a games customs..also you can see 2 kings who have white skin. and why would his spirit form not also show him in this way if it is makeup for royalty his spirit would want to be shown as such.
  • If the bloodline was not white skinned why would Tetra be shown changing from tanned to white...whats the importance other than not to shock people with a tanned zelda...also if that were the reason, meaning they didnt want a tanned zelda wouldnt that mean they want the royalty to be seen as white skinned
  • I already said, I began to think...not, this is why he compared himself...but its worth noting that he is very hardcore about beating ganon....even flooding his own kingdom (I know the gods did it) I also know that is one of my weaker points but again its worth noting.
  • Lions are associated with royalty...in our reality....but I have yet to see a lion depicted in Hyrule Kingdom and without that you cant say it is hyrules sign of royalty.
  • and the point about red being associated with courage........nice..you got me there, only thing I can think of is why king of red LIONS..unless the lion emphasizes the courage, so for that im stumped.....unless in hyrule courage is depicted with green not red to associate with Farore's courage, but now im grasping at straws since this has never been shown except with link wearing green and thats hardly a reason.
  • also what do you think about that Symbol on his door hatch...Gerudo like or not?

The game creators base a lot of material an the real world. They won't make up new customs on such a trivial matter. Yes lions are also associated with courage. As the name is the only reference to lions in the series, they would have no need to change the custom from the real world. If game developers had to recreate every single little detail, we would never see them completed. Also, customs are not rules. .If a king disagrees or if the circumstance forces it, a custom would not be followed.--Matt 18:52, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Ok .... i still dont believe that to be enough to convince me otherwise because whether or not they base things on real life doesn't mean they can't recreate a detail. Also I just Can't agree with you about the lion fact since even hyrule castle in wind waker has no sign of lions anywhere..lots of triforces though. And "trivial" details are what makes games great you know so to make it just right I think they would put the time in to do anything...why not --Remo 19:13, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
