To me it is an interesting argument that Link is from Calatia. He seems the outsider to Hyrule in the first two Nintendo games. There are some interesting mythological/hystorical homages to Ancient Roman civilization as Calatia was a city (turned into a Necropolis) near Pompeii, right under Mt.
