From Zelda Wiki, the Zelda encyclopedia
Appearing only in A Link to the Past, Swamola is a swamp worm that appears outside of the Misery Mire dungeon, in the Swamp of Evil in the Dark World. It appears to be related to a Lanmola,[1] but it is much smaller and weaker. However, unlike Lanmola it has pincers at the front of its head with which it can cause a lot of damage. It leaps from the slime of the swamp looking for food, and will bite at Link before dropping back into the swamp. It shares its home with Ku.
Trivia
- The Japanese name for the Swamola is Morudoāmu, the name used for Moldorms in the original The Legend of Zelda, while the Japanese name for Moldorm in other games is Tail. Swamolas behave much like the Moldorms of Twilight Princess, which are also known as Morudoāmu rather than Tail in Japan.

Instead of the heat and sand of the desert though, these creatures were accustomed to mud and slime. They swam to the surface in order to collect food."
