Sturgeon is an elderly man who lives on Outset Island along with his brother, Orca, and granddaughter, Sue-Belle, in The Wind Waker. He has a hot temper and is easily angered by Orca's swordfighting. He is the one that teaches Link the basic controls of the game. Even though he despises swordfighting, he was actually once a grand swordsman himself. He and his brother Orca both went on a quest to obtain 10 Knight's Crests, but failed to realize their dream after his brother injured himself.
Sturgeon also makes an appearance in The Minish Cap where he spends most of his days in the Library in Hyrule Town, trying to convince anyone who stops by to talk with him that he isn't crazy just because he believes the books in the library fly around on their own from time to time.

Known as Outset's living encyclopedia, Sturgeon is quite wise, boasting an abnormally high IQ. He has extremely sensitive nerves - quite the opposite of his younger brother, Orca, who lives downstairs. Surprisingly, Sturgeon was an accomplished swordsman in his youth.
