Soil is a soft spot where you can plant seeds. You can plant Magic Beans in plots of soil in Ocarina of Time. Open a bottle of Bugs near the soil to find Gold Skulltulas. This is also possible in some soil within the Swamp Spider House of Majora's Mask.
In Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons you can plant a Gasha Seed in soil. The seed will eventually sprout into a Gasha Tree.
In The Wind Waker, there is black soil dotting Outset Island. If you throw All-Purpose Bait on it while the giant pig is near, the pig will dig up the soil. You can get good treasures this way.
