Properly called Puppets, these strange creatures are also referred to as Mannequins, Marionettes, Deku Puppets or Deku Golems. They are odd wooden creatures that will follow Link wherever he goes in the Lost Woods. Link originally encounters them when he enters the Lost Woods to retrieve the Master Sword, and they are summoned by the Skull Kid to chase him, as they are quite fast. The Skull Kid also summons them while he is fighting Link personally. After fighting the Skull Kid, they can be found by rolling into trees and knocking them down.

These enemies attack by flailing their arms and bodies against Link, and they tend to cluster together, enabling Link to hit many of them with one attack. They usually appear in groups of four, and can be defeated using the sword or the Ball and Chain. Their primary mode of transportation is an eerie dance as they float towards Link.

An interesting note is that in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, similar enemies, called Puppits, debut in the level where Link is also playable for the first time, which happens to look similar to the forest where Link draws the Master Sword. This may or may not be a coincidence or reference.
