The Popo made its debut in A Link to the Past. It resides in the dark palaces such as Eastern Palace, Misery Mire and Desert Palace. It is a sentient shamble of tentacles that moves along the sand in hopes of grabbing in prey to sustain on, using colors of orange and blue to lure unsuspecting prey into the beast's maw. These creatures do not actively attack, and thus pose no direct threat. Link confronted these creatures in his adventures and was able to kill them with his sword.
