They swim underwater for a period of time with only their dorsal fins visible, before jumping up, attempting to attack Link. In Four Swords and The Minish Cap, Piranha wear some sort of helmet on their heads.

In Link's Awakening, Oracle of Seasons, and Four Swords, Fin Piranha are found within water areas of caves and the overworld. Cloud Piranha that swim through clouds are only featured in The Minish Cap.

- Their appearance and attack patterns in The Minish Cap are somewhat similar to the ???? enemy from the Mario series of games, Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga.
