Boarblins,(LANS)[1] also known as Pig Warriors,(LA | OoS | OoA)[2] are recurring Enemies in The Legend of Zelda series. Another Variant of Boarblins is known as a Spear Moblin.

Characteristics[]

Link's Awakening[]

Boarblins are relatives to Moblins in Link's Awakening.[3] Unlike the Bulldog moblins of the forest, Boarblins have a porcine-like appearance, resemble the moblins of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and live primarily in Tal Tal Heights and Ukuku Prairie. They behave in an identical manner to Moblins and also appear in a Sword variant.

Oracle of Seasons[]

Pig Warriors appear in blue and red variants in Oracle of Seasons. A Sword-wielding variant can also be found. Pig Warriors have less health than Moblins in this game. The Great Moblin is the boss of a gang of Pig Warriors. They operate in Moblin's Keep, where the Great Moblin is fought. After his defeat, the Pig Warriors are driven away to the other land in a Linked Game. After their defeat in Labrynna, they can be found in Sunken City, forced to make and sell Bombs.[4][5]

In a Linked Game, a friendly Pig Warrior will give Link the Tokay Linking Secret.[6][7]

Oracle of Ages[]

Pig Warriors appear in blue and red variants in Oracle of Ages. A Sword-wielding variant can also be found. Pig Warriors have less health than Moblins in this game. The Great Moblin is the boss of a gang of Pig Warriors. They operate in Great Moblin's Keep, where the Great Moblin is fought. After his defeat, the Pig Warriors are driven away to the other land in a Linked Game.

Other Appearances[]

Link's Awakening (Cagiva)[]

In the Link's Awakening manga by Ataru Cagiva, a Boarblin is seen about to execute Tarin for his crimes against Owablin only for Link to save him by defeating the foe using his "Link Dynamite Kick".

Nomenclature[]

In Japan, the enemy is known as Butablin, spelled as ブタブリン. Buta is the Japanese word for pig.
