Peater is a character in Skyward Sword. He runs the Bamboo Island mini-game and is the father of Peatrice.
Biography
Peater, father of Peatrice, declares he used to be "Mr. Skyloft" and was very popular. However, due to age, he claims he has lost the figure he once had, though his reputation still stands. To train enthusiastic youths, just like he used to be, he runs the Bamboo Island in order to test them. No matter how well Link does at chopping bamboo, Peater will sometimes comment on the endurance and speed he once had.
Peater never realizes that Link is his daughter's love interest, asking him to please watch over her as he cannot always remain in Skyloft. Even as she confesses her undying love to Link, if he refuses every time, Peater will thank Link for taking care of her, seeing that her enthusiasm has calmed down, and will give him five Gratitude Crystals.
Etymology
Following the bird naming patterns of most Skyloftians, Peater seems to be a corruption of "Peter" with the reference to a "peacock"
