Spoiler warning: The following contains key plot or ending details.
Previously known as Toaru Village, Ordon Village is Link's hometown in Twilight Princess. This village is where Link was raised as a ranch-hand and where Link starts his adventure, learning the basic controls while helping the villagers.
The village is small, and has few inhabitants. The villagers include: Link, Rusl, Uli, Colin, Fado, Hanch, Sera, Beth, Mayor Bo, Ilia, Talo, Malo, Jaggle, and finally, Pergie. This village has a general store and a ranch. The game starts in this village where Rusl asks Link to attend the festival in Hyrule, where he will deliver a sword. The specifics of this festival are not known, but it doesn't much matter as Link doesn't get to make this trip. Just as he is retrieving his horse from Ilia, the mayor's daughter, a horde of enemies storms the village. Ilia is shot (non-fatally) in the back with an arrow, and Colin is taken captive by the King Bulbin. Link is clubbed in the back of the head by one of the Bulblins and left unconscious. When he wakes up he finds nothing. He is alone.
Ordon Village appears in Link's Crossbow Training. Link will shoot targets, Ordon Pumpkins and more.
Ordon Ranch
A ranch to the south of Ordon. It is currently run by Fado, and the only animals there are Ordon goats. The main purpose of this place is a small mini-game in which Link must ride Epona to round up all the goats into the stable. This game can be played multiple times to obtain a better time. This is also where Fado teaches you how to jump fences, you must do so to exit the ranch. Later in the village another incident occurs where a goat escapes the ranch and stampedes down the ranch path. Link must stop the goat by tackling it. Inside the stable in the ranch is a secret dig spot that leads to a Rare Chu.
Possible Origins of Ordon Village
Theory Warning: Be advised that the following article or section contains unconfirmed, fan-made theories or speculation.
It has been theorized that Ordon Village is built upon the place where formerly the Kokiri Forest, the home of the forest-dwelling Kokiri race as well as the Hero of Time himself, once resided. There are multiple pieces of evidence to suggest this that can be found throughout the area as well as the village's location. For one thing, the terrain of Ordon Village closely resembles and in some cases matches exactly the terrain of Kokiri Forest that was seen in Ocarina of Time, with features such as pools and streams running through the village matching those found in Kokiri Forest. A second point mentioned by theorists is that the treehouse that Link lives in during the events of Twilight Princess is virtually identical to the one occupied by the Hero of Time during Ocarina of Time, with even its outer features appearing identical. Considering that Link already possessed the Triforce of Courage at the beginning of Twilight Princess, it is conceivable that he possibly inherited it from the Hero of Time if they were indeed related by blood (the Hero of Time was sent back to the timeline that Twilight Princess takes place in) and that the treehouse Link lives in during Twilight Princess is indeed the former home of the Hero of Time and now the home of his descendants. A third point to suggest this is the village's close proximity to the Faron Province, where there is a Forest Temple that many believe to be the deceased remains of the Great Deku Tree himself, though the terrain separating the village from the temple has changed drastically over the course of a century. It is within this Forest Temple that the Kokiri symbol also appears countless times throughout the dungeon on its doors, very similar to the dungeon Inside the Deku Tree.
There is also the geographical location of Ordon Village to take into consideration as well: when comparing the maps of Hyrule at the times of Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess, they appear very much alike and many places can be recognized between the two. Ordon Village sits in the place occupied by Kokiri Forest when the two maps are compared. It is unknown what became of the Kokiri in this branch of Hyrule's history, but evidence that they once existed is plentiful as previously stated. It could be that without the magic of the Deku Tree to protect them, the Kokiri may have vanished into the depths of the forest or vanished from existence, leaving their former home, the Kokiri Forest, to be turned into a human settlement thereafter. Another prominent theory concerning the disappearance of the Kokiri however states that the Kokiri may perhaps have evolved into a new race (as they did in The Wind Waker), that new race being the monkeys that now inhabit the Forest Temple. The monkeys are obviously aware of Ordon Village's location at the time of Twilight Princess (which would be explained if they were in fact the Kokiri that had once inhabited the village when it was the Kokiri Forest) and are revealed to be more sentient and intelligent than they first appear to be as the game progresses.
