An ocean is a large area of saline water that separates two (or more) land masses apart over a great distance with possible islands in between. Oceans are also a huge contributor to the weather system along with the Sun and Moon. An ocean should not be confused with a sea as the two are completely different.
The best example of Oceans are found in The Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass games.
