The Magtail is a lava-tolerant centipede monster that resides in the superheated areas of The Wind Waker. It slithers around rooms, waiting for helpless prey to come near to it. When it does, it will stretch out its mandibles, and then slice them down on the helpless victim. Link had the pleasure to meet a few of these on his journeys. He learned that direct exposure to the eye of the creature by a variety of weapons such as the Grappling Hook cause the creature to curl into a hardened ball. It could be used to put on switches to hold them down, or the Magtail itself could be killed, if one so desired. Water could also be used on them to bring them into their curled up state. They took quite a few hits to destroy, having strong natural armor.
Trivia
- If Link needed to dispatch of a Magtail quickly, the parry ability could kill them by doing a downward thrust through the Magtail's head.
