Biography
In The Wind Waker, Link sets out on a vast adventure to recover his sister Aryll from the clutches of the Helmaroc King. During this adventure Link's Grandmother waits anxiously to see both her grandchildren safely back to Outset Island where they had lived all their lives together in a house on a cliff beside the sea shore. Early in Link's adventure Grandmother provides Link with a coming of age gift to represent the Islanders' love of lore and legend concerning a particular hero of old (see also: Link). She gives Link a green garb and hat and also provides a shield sporting the family crest (which happens to match the legendary Hero's shield, even though the King of Red Lions does not make much of this fact and discounts Link's affiliation with that Hero).
Later in Link's adventure Link returns to fetch Nayru's Pearl from the great water spirit: Jabun. When Link comes to visit his Grandmother she is tired and sick. Link promptly provides her with a little fairy dust and she becomes well enough to sprout up and offer advice as well as two helpings of her Elixir Soup in one bottle. Whenever Link returns to visit occasionally Grandmother happily fills his bottles with her hearty soup which restores all health and energy, and even doubles attack power until receiving a hit from Link's enemies.
Throughout Link's adventures on the Great Sea Grandmother continues to be a resolute source of encouragement for the Hero of Winds. Even after Link rescues Aryll and sets sail for new seas, Grandmother always remains patiently on Outset Island with a smile on her face and many helpings of her healing soup.

Conversations
After receiving the Hero's clothes:
Link, have you seen your sister, Aryll, this morning?
I wouldn't be surprised if she's climbed up to her favorite spot to play with the gulls again today.
I've always thought it quite odd... She's the only person I know who the wild gulls will even approach.
After Tetra is dropped in the forest:
Link! What's the matter? What's happened?
Where is Aryll?
I know she's a good girl who behaves herself, but she's still just a child. You mustn't let your eyes off of her.
