Kalle Demos (Pronounced /ˈkeɪl/ /dɛ moʊs/, KAYL de-moes) is the parasitic plant-monster Link encounters in The Wind Waker, living and sapping life out of the Forest Haven via its location deep in the nearby Forbidden Woods. Makar, in venturing too far from the Great Deku Tree in preparation for the Korok Ceremony, falls into the Forbidden Woods, and is swallowed whole by Kalle Demos; to rescue Makar becomes Link's primary motivation to enter the woods and face the parasite. Kalle Demos' physical appearance resembles that of an engorged Boko Baba, and its fighting style is reminiscent of Barinade, the parasite living within Lord Jabu-Jabu in Ocarina of Time.

Strategy

Link battles Kalle Demos
Kalle Demos is made up of two integral parts: a vulnerable flower-like head, and the multi-armed hanging bulb that not only poses a huge threat to Link, but shields the flower inside from damage. The bulb has two different types of tentacles: The ones that anchor the creature to the ceiling, and those that act as electrified barbs, the latter of which motivates Link to stay mobile throughout the entire battle; if Link stays in one position too long, the arms can strike him and greatly dock his health.

Link must first snip the tentacles that anchor the boss to the ceiling with the Boomerang, causing it to fall to the ground. The beast then fully outstretches and explodes wide open, exposing the weak flower inside. Link must run in with his sword and hack at the flower, taking full advantage of the boss' Critical Point. Unlike most bosses in the Zelda series, this strategy needs only to be used once, considering Link makes use of all time available to slice at the weak flower whenever it is exposed.

Once Kalle Demos is defeated, Makar gives Link thanks for his service, and the latter yields a Heart Container before departing back to the Great Deku Tree. The boss reappears in Ganon's Tower, but is fought and defeated the same way.

This plant-monster is a gigantic parasite that lives in the depths of the Forbidden Woods.
Only by cutting loose all of its disgusting tentacles with the Boomerang will its tender core be revealed.
