Kaepora Gaebora (ケポラ・ゲボラ, Kepora Gebora) is a wise owl that roams the skies of Hyrule in Ocarina of Time. Although he appears to be a simple owl, he seems to know more than anyone else in Hyrule. He often aided Link in his quest, guiding him on the path to defeat evil through his long speeches, as well as asks if the player confirmed them after each one as he asks "Did you understand what I said?".

He is strong enough to carry young Link through the air, and can do so repeatedly in certain locations, such as the top of Death Mountain down to Kakariko Village, and also from Lake Hylia to the drawbridge just outside Hyrule Market. He is not seen after Link draws the Master Sword from its pedestal save for when Link learns the Requiem of Spirit, and after he obtains the Silver Gauntlets.

Kaepora Gaebora is said by a Gossip stone to be the reincarnation of an ancient sage[1]. But later on in the game he talked to Link as a child in the Spirit Temple saying that he found it hard to believe that Link could travel in time, which makes it seem as though there may not be any connection. In the alternate dimension of Termina, the wise owl has a counterpart, who taught Link the Song of Soaring, which allows Link to warp to different activated owl statues. He is seen again at Snowhead, where he tells you where the Lens of Truth is and helps you get to the cave where it is placed by using his feathers to show you a group of invisible platforms that Link can use to reach the cave.

In Link's Awakening, an owl similar to the one from Ocarina of Time helps Link by giving him hints on where to go next. Although he doesn't appear in Twilight Princess, some think that the Owl Statues scattered around Hyrule, similar to the ones in Link's Awakening, was a homage made to him by the game's designers. Eldin, the Light Spirit of the Eldin Province, is also an owl.

Kaepora Gaebora himself makes a reappearance in Four Swords Adventures, serving much the same role he did in Ocarina of Time.

Owl Statues share wisdom in both Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons.
