From Zelda Wiki, the Zelda encyclopedia
Guma is the Japanese name for an otherwise unnamed enemy from
The Adventure of Link. These foes resemble giant bulls and constantly hurl
chain hammers in an upward arc, making approaching them somewhat difficult. If Link can get under the arc of the attacks, he can strike without being hurt. They are very common throughout
Parapa Palace.

Trivia
- Interestingly, this enemy's name can also be transcribed as Gooma, which is the name given by the translation team to a new boss exclusive to non-Japanese versions. Artwork used for Gooma actually seems to be art originally intended for Guma, also.
- The Doomknocker is an enemy in the same game which has attacks that are similar to that of Guma. Its Japanese name (ヘルグーマ) translates as "Hell Guma."
- The Guma's fighting style is also very similar to that of the Hammer Bros. from the Super Mario Bros. games, in that it occasionally stops throwing for a brief moment, leaps into the air, then continues throwing.
