The Grip Ring, the very item required to scale vertical, rocky walls, is located in a bombable cave within Mount Crenel, in The Minish Cap. Link can purchase this ring from a cave-borne Business Scrub for 40 rupees. This ring allows Link to ascend Mount Crenel's tallest vertical surface, the Crenel Wall,[1] in search of the Cave of Flames, the game's second dungeon. With use of the Grip Ring, Link can also visit the Great Mayfly Fairy and the Crenel Hermit, both of whom make permanent residences on a ledge high on the Wall itself. The Ring is also needed tp access the lair of Grayblade, another cave-dweller who lives on Mount Crenel's eastern side. Aside from its usability throughout the Mount Crenel region, the Grip Ring is a navigational standard at Veil Falls, as well, due to the region's similar, vertical wall faces. The Grip Ring is not only necessary to complete the game, but it is also required in order to complete the Mirror Shield sidequest with Biggoron at the summit of Veil Falls.
