Uses and Location

The Giant's Mask is obtained in the Stone Tower Temple after defeating an Eyegore.[1] When Link wears the mask, he becomes a giant, able to fight enemies many times his size.[2] It is only usable in Twinmold's chamber at the Stone Tower Temple. Wearing the mask will drain Link's Magic Meter, and if depleted, he will return to normal size.

In Majora's Mask 3D, the Giant's Mask is now obtained during the second part of the Twinmold fight. The mask also lets Link attack Twinmold with his bare hands, permitting Link to do uppercuts, ground slams, and spin the boss around.

Trivia

  • There is evidence that the Giant's Mask was supposed to be wearable anywhere in the game. By using cheats to successfully wear the mask anywhere, the Happy Mask Salesman will comment "That truly is a rare mask..."[citation needed]
  • The Giant's Mask bears resemble to Zant's mouthpiece.
  • The mask also bears resemblance to the Moai of the Easter Island.
  • The Giant's Mask, in design and function, can also be said to pay homage to famed Tokusatsu Super Hero Ultraman, who was able to grow to giant sizes to combat titanic monsters for a select amount of time. Similarly, Link can only stay giant for a select amount of time before his magic drains, barring the use of Chateau Romani for infinite magic. The comparison becomes much stronger with the addition of punches and throws in the remake, as melee combat and wrestling is another staple of the Ultraman franchise.
