The Engineer's Clothes is the uniform that Link can be seen wearing at the beginning of Spirit Tracks. They come with a pair of gloves and a red hat which has a dove design on it, the mark of a true engineer.
Location and Uses
After Link receives the Recruit Uniform from Princess Zelda, the young hero will don the uniform instead, rendering the Engineer's Clothes useless, but only for the beginning of the journey. After filling 15 stamps in the Stamp Book, the Engineer's Clothes are unlocked for use again. Switching between both clothes is as simple as speaking to Niko in Aboda Village.
