Dimitri (ウィウィ, Wiwi) is one of three animal companions that Link can get in Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons (the other two are Ricky and Moosh). Dimitri is a friendly, red Dodongo. He can swim up waterfalls and through currents without being pulled along. Unlike Moosh and Ricky, Dimitri can bite and eat enemies. Link can also pick Dimitri up and throw him with the Power Bracelet when he is not riding him.

Link can use Dimitri's Flute to call him.

Depending on which animal helper Link befriends, the landscaping of some areas in either Holodrum or Labrynna will change. If Link had Dimitri join him, then some areas within these regions may resemble a large lake or river with many waterfalls, which will require the use of Dimitri's help.

Oracle of Seasons

In Oracle of Seasons, Link will eventually have to venture into Spool Swamp for the next Essence of Nature after completing the Snake's Remains dungeon. During this time, Link can find and acquire a Strange Flute. One of the Strange Flutes can be acquired by winning a mini-game round in the Subrosian Dance Hall after Link completed the second dungeon, Snake's Remains, yet only before Link helps Ricky the kangaroo. While heading into Spool Swamp, Link would encounter one of the pontential animal helpers, Ricky. Blaino, who lives nearby, had taken away Ricky's boxing gloves, and the game requires that Link goes to Blaino, fight him in a boxing round for a total of 10 rupees, and defeat him to win back the gloves. When the gloves are returned, Ricky will offer to help Link by transporting him to Spool Swamp, where Link may later meet one of the other animal companions depending on certain requirements.

If Link won the Strange Flute from the Subrosian Dance Hall, he will eventually encounter Dimitri being attacked by the Great Moblin's henchmen. When Link paid the green henchmen 50 rupees and another 30 rupees, thus requiring at least 80 rupees to complete this event, the henchmen left them alone. Dimitri will then thank Link and join him, turning the Strange Flute into Dimitri's Flute.

Dimitri has a second event in Sunken City, but can only be seen if Link has Ricky's Flute or Moosh's Flute instead. In the bottom left-most corner of the city, Link would eventually encounter a group of children harassing Dimitri. By giving one of the children all of the Bombs that Link has, the children will leave. As thanks, Dimitri will temporarily allow Link to ride him, which is necessary to maneuver the flooded city until Link gets the Zora's Flippers. The city has a couple of waterfalls which only Dimitri can climb up. One of the waterfalls leads to a man who will test Link in getting the Master's Plaque, with the reward being the Zora's Flippers. Shortly after Dimitri will leave.

If Link does have Dimitri's Flute however, all Link needs to do is call Dimitri into the city rather than saving him from the city's children.
