The Dark Dragon is the second (and final) form of Onox, and the final boss of Oracle of Seasons. Revealing his nature as nothing more than a servant to Twinrova, Dark Dragon is equally as intelligent as he is in his normal form. Towering stories over Link, Dark Dragon prepares to attack Link and eliminate him once and for all.

Strategy

The dark terror called Dark Dragon was almost completely immune to damage, with his body of black scales able to reflect anything Link might try without a frown. However, the gem on his head was another story...

In order to prevail against this monster, Link was charged with waiting for Dark Dragon to try and crush him with his hands, then jumping on top of them, leaping them to use his sword to attack the gem. Following this, Dark Dragon would attempt to bombard Link with fire, which he was forced to avoid else receive large amounts of damage. As the battle went for longer, Dark Dragon would attack faster, changing between the clumps of blue fire he originally used to faster, yet weaker fireballs. However, it still wasn't enough to destroy Link, who proceeded to continue to attack the gem until, at last, Dark Dragon was defeated.

Rather than bemoan his fate, Dark Dragon was instead amused at the uselessness of Link's efforts, telling Link that his fate mattered not, since he had completed his goal. As Dark Dragon dissapeared, Din appeared, finally freed, allowing the seasons to return to normal.

Although the Power Ring Level 3 is reccomended by some to be the best way of killing Dark Dragon, it causes Dark Dragon's attacks to have that much more lethality to them. This can be reversed if you equip the ring right before you attack and taking it off right after you attack. All in all, the Red Ring provides a little less power, but lacks the risk of severe damage to Link.

An alternate strategy, making use of the Power Ring Level 3, is to use the ring to attack Dark Dragon, then immediately after, to switch to the Armor Ring Level 3 while he attack, then to switch back after he stops.

Trivia

  • It is possible, albeit hard, to jump from one of Dark Dragon's hands to the other while attacking him, through good timing.
  • Dark Dragon is possibly one of the largest bosses Link has ever fought, along with Molgera, Morpheel, Eox and Twinmold. Doubtlessly, he is the largest encountered in the Oracle series.
