Synopsis

Link is stuck with spring cleaning.

It is the first day of spring in Hyrule, and while Link hopes to use the fair weather as an excuse to get romantic with Zelda, she insists that it is time for spring cleaning. She hands him and mop and tells him to get to work. Link is annoyed by this, and pretends to have a cold in order to get out of spring cleaning. Spryte takes pity on him when he pretends to be sick and tells him to rest.

Meanwhile, a Moby attacks while Zelda is inspecting Link's room. She shoves its nose into Link's pile of dirty laundry and it is so disgusted by the smell that it flies away. Link arrives and tried to steal a kiss from Zelda again, while Spryte tries to convince Zelda that he is sick and needs rest. Even though she thinks that Link's illness is not genuine, she relents and allows him to stay in bed. The Moby overhears this and brings the news back to Ganon that Link is sick and that the castle is spring cleaning. Ganon summons a Deeler from the Evil Jar to take him to the castle so that he can steal the Triforce of Wisdom while Link is incapacitated. He spies Spryte trying to do Link's work and casts a spell on her. The spell gives Spryte extra energy so that she will be hyperactive and act as a distraction while Ganon steals the Triforce.

"My magic has become so powerful!"

Zelda orders Spryte to make the bed, wash the floors, and dust. She attempts to use magic to do the chores, but the spell cast by Ganon causes her magic to go haywire and create chaos. The mops and buckets begin to attack Link, Zelda, and Spryte, so Zelda grabs Link's magic Bow and Boomerang and fights the cleaning supplies. When they are all defeated, the heroes are shocked to learn that Ganon had stolen the Triforce in the confusion.

The mops go insane.

Giving swift chase, they follow Ganon deep into the Underworld. They stumble upon a trap door and land right into Ganon's clutches. He releases a Gohma to eat the heroes, while Spryte shoots a powerful bolt of energy at the Gohma, allowing Link to escape. The ensuing battle causes Ganon's lair to collapse, but Zelda is not able to grab the Triforce of Power. Back at Hyrule Castle, Zelda reminds Link that it is still spring cleaning time, but he fakes a cold again. This time, she doesn't buy it.

Notes

  • The magic bow seen in this episode appears to be a different one from the one shown in "The Ringer". The one from the previous episode was made of bone, while the one from this episode was made of wood.
  • The sequence in which the mops and buckets go crazy under the influence of magic is similar to the famous "Sorcerer's Apprentice" segment from Walt Disney's Fantasia.

Quotes

  • Triforce of Wisdom: "Orderly ways do not make one brave, and neatness does not a kingdom save."
    • Zelda: "But still, it offends my royal nose when I must smell these stinky clothes!"
  • Link (After being washed down the stairwell by a torrent of water): "Is that what they call a royal flush?"
