Main Characters
Link
- Main article: Link
After his adventures in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Link finds himself in another quest to find the nasty Ghost Ship, which had kidnapped his fellow pirate friend Tetra. He later learns there's a bigger problem than just finding his friend.
Ciela
- Main article: Ciela
After Link washes up on the shore of Mercay Island a cheery fairy comes up to wake the green garbed hero from unconsciousness. On the island she introduces Link to a wise man named Oshus and eventually the two join on a quest across the vast ocean.
Oshus
- Main article: Oshus
Oshus is wise and mysterious man that many on Mercay Island usually seek out for in times of guidance. He guides Link through his quest helping him in certain times. Not much is known about him as he keeps to himself.
Linebeck
- Main article: Linebeck
A brave and respected man, Linebeck is known by many, many of which greatly admire him as well as his way of life. When he learns that both himself and Link were searching for the same thing, he agreed to help the boy. Throughout their travels Link discovers that Linebeck is not as he is known for, rather he has a cowardly personality, though at the end of their quest Linebeck shows great nobility and bravery after experiencing and witnessing all Link has done.
Tetra
- Main article: Tetra
Tetra is leader of a band of pirates and friend of Link. In the beginning of the The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, she searches with her crew to find the infamous "Ghost Ship" which has been causing terror and disruption across the sea. They finally find the boat and with her rash nature she jumps onboard the ship. A loud scream is heard and Link hastily jumps across to reach Tetra who might be in harm. He slips and falls into the ocean losing his chance to get on the ship which mysteriously disappears. Link once again must save the captured Tetra.
Supporting Characters
Leaf
- Main article: Leaf
Leaf is one of the "Spirits of the Ocean". Link found him after he defeated the monster found inside the Temple of Fire. He is the Fairy of Power and offering Spirit Gems on Spirit Island gives Leaf the ability to help Link power his sword in strength,
Neri
- Main article: Neri
Neri is one of the "Spirits of the Ocean". Neri is found after Link completed the Temple of Wind and defeated Cyclok. Offering Spirit Gems gives Neri the power to protect Link and decrease his damage taken.
Kayo
- Main article: Kayo
After a hoard of monsters attacked the Isle of Ember, Kayo bravely protected his mistress, Astrid. Unfortunately his act of bravery led to his death. Even in death Kayo served Astrid when he informed Link on how to open the door of her basement as she was trapped.
Astrid
- Main article: Astrid
A fortune-teller from the Isle of Ember. After Link helps free her, she offers Link a chance to see his future. She sees it and tells Link that he is to battle with evil to save Tetra and that his first destination is the temple which lies on the island, the Temple of Fire.
Eddo
- Main article: Eddo
Eddo is a small man who is greatly skilled in sea craft accessories. Link was able to buy both a Cannon and the Salvage Arm from him. He takes his job very seriously often locking the main door in order to not become distracted.
Zauz
- Main article: Zauz
Zauz is a skilled blacksmith. He is the only one known to be able to forge the legendary Phantom Sword.
Gongoron
- Main article: Gongoron
Gongoron is the son of the chief of Goron island. At first he does not except Link as a fellow brother even though he passed the test. But he became friends with Link after he was saved by him and after they worked together to defeat the monster inside Goron Temple. He can later be found on Dee Ess Island where you can play the Goron Game as Gongoron.
Biggoron

Biggoron is the chief of Goron Island. Before Link was able to enter the Goron Temple, he first had to take a test from Biggoron to make himself a full-fledged "brother".
Golden Chief Cylos
- Main article: Golden Chief Cylos
On the Uncharted Island was a hidden cave. Inside lied the Golden Chief Cylos. He helped in aiding Link's adventure by giving Link the Cyclone Slate which allowed traveling across the ocean faster and easier. He is close friends with the Ocean King.
Old Wayfarer
- Main article: Old Wayfarer
The Old Wayfarer left his wife and son to travel the sea and to go off on adventures. He gives Link the fishing rod as well as the Swordsman's Scroll. He pursues for love of the ocean as well as the mysterious creature known as the Mermaid.
Postman
- Main article: Postman
The Postman travels across the ocean to deliver mail to the people. Occasionally Link would get a letter and the Postman would search for him to read his letter to him. This is rather unusual as instead of giving Link the letter he reads it aloud.
Beedle

Beedle rides across his Shop Ship across the Great Sea for wary travelers who need equipment and ship parts. Buying from him allows you to get a free membership as well as coupons for later on.
Nyeve
- Main article: Nyeve
Nyeve is a man that can be found in the sea riding his boat. His boat looks bizarrely similar to the King of Red Lions and Nyeve himself wears a green tunic similar to Link's. He trains Link and after every training session he rewards Link with ship parts and treasure.
Nyave
- Main article: Nyave
Nyave is the brother to Nyeve. He is very cowardly and he often pretends to play dead in order to ignore fighting monsters. After Link clears up all the monsters on his boat he gives Link treasure in gratitude of saving him.
Teller of Treasures
- Main article: Teller of Treasures
The Teller of Treasures is a man that can be found on Mercay Island. He buys any treasure that Link offers to him though prices seem random.
