Biography
The banker is seated on his desk in front of the bank vault and is able to recognize clients through a system of "invisible stamping".[1] He awards people with gifts based on how much they deposit.[2] His gifts are a Large Wallet once 200 rupees is deposited, a 5 rupee interest once depositing 1,000 rupees, and then a Piece of Heart when 5,000 or more rupees has been deposited.[3][4] The Banker will remain at his post even with the moon thundering above the town, close to crushing the small city. Link can hold a maximum of 5,499 rupees in the bank. However, after Link's balance reaches 5,000 or over, he will stop accepting deposits. He will also charge Link's account 4 rupees if he withdraws at night.[5] He constantly refers to Link as 'little guy'.[6]
He knows the number of Rupees Link has in his account even after Link resets time and returns to the beginning of the first day. Presumably, this is because he recognizes customer account balances via the “special ink” with which he marks them, rather than keeping records. Technically, this means that the rupees Link has deposited in previous cycles are not actually in the bank after he turns back time, and the banker is being unintentionally deceived by Link via his own system.
Hyrulean Counterpart
The Banker is the Terminian counterpart of the man in Ocarina of Time who is oddly desperate to buy things in bottles. He can be found in Hyrule Castle Town when Link is a child, and Kakariko Village 7 years later. He will buy items in a bottle from Link.[7] He will pay 25 rupees for a Fairy, 50 Rupees for a bottle of bugs, 100 rupees for a Fish, and 150 rupees for Blue Fire.
