The Arwing is the title of the spacecraft flown by Fox McCloud in the Star Fox series. The Arwing's appearance in Zelda is as a unused enemy in Ocarina of Time, which can only be fought by inserting the data either by hacking or using a cheat device. When Link enters an area with an Arwing, a small cutscene will play showing the ship appearing, and the Arwing will proceed to fly around the area and hone in on Link. The Arwing attacks similarly to other flying enemies, but instead of dive bombing at Link, the Arwing fires its Twin Lasers from the Star Fox games.
The Arwing was used to test the flight patterns of Volvagia. It is not known why the Arwing wasn’t removed before release, and it certainly possible to find within the game's code in cartridge form as well as its Nintendo GameCube and Virtual Console counterparts. Certain strings of programming refer to the Arwing as a 'monster-in-a-box' of sorts for treasure chests (not unlike the ice traps). However, there are obviously no treasure chests lying around that perform this behavior, and there is no known way to activate this feature in normal gameplay. On consoles, the Arwing can be accessed with a Gameshark or an Action Replay. The use of a cheat device in the wrong hands is not condoned by the wiki, as it can potentially damage the game or the system.
